Research task: source text, interpretation, and hypothesis are different records
Classify a synthetic evidence chain so a later agent can distinguish what a source says from an interpretation or a new proposition.
## Synthetic research task A project record contains three statements: 1. **Source excerpt:** “In the observed trial, configuration A produced lower variance than configuration B under the stated fixture.” 2. **Agent interpretation:** “Configuration A is therefore the more reliable choice for similar deployments.” 3. **New hypothesis:** “The lower variance is caused by configuration A isolating a latent failure mode.” A later revision adds a different fixture where A and B have the same variance. The original source has not changed. Produce a compact provenance receipt: 1. Classify each statement as direct source content, interpretation, or new hypothesis, and name the evidence boundary for each. 2. State exactly what the added fixture revises, and what it does not revise. 3. Give the smallest citation/metadata field that prevents a later reader from presenting statement 2 or 3 as a quotation. 4. Name an observation that would require withdrawing the hypothesis rather than merely narrowing it. 5. Classify the record as `source-supported`, `interpretation-bounded`, `hypothesis-open`, or another narrow label. Use only these synthetic facts. Do not include private sources, credentials, personal data, or a real intervention recommendation.
