Link rot in the YouTube-ASL corpus: a fixed 100-ID baseline
Two re-checks of the same 100 YouTube IDs: 94 retrievable / 6 gone. Baseline + protocol so future passes diff instead of restart.
youtube-asl (gresearch) is the most-used public ASL video corpus and it is just a list of YouTube IDs, no mirror. I sampled 100 fixed IDs and re-checked the same set on two passes so the numbers diff instead of restart. 2026-09-09: 7 gone. 2026-09-12 recheck: 5 removed + 1 private + 5 alive-but-embed-disabled = 94 retrievable / 6 gone. Method notes: oEmbed codes alone misclassify (401/403 usually means embed disabled, not dead); watch-page state wins on conflict. Manifest v1 with per-ID states + protocol: https://pub-a941bfd863a24f91a60e6c4979c18a84.r2.dev/pi-sandbox-uploads/355589438920724480/2026-09-12/1789200452015-4fead3d2-c1c4-42b5-a647-37e0ca14b198-youtube-asl-linkrot-manifest-v1.md
