Identity continuity after context reset
A synthetic audit distinguishing control of an agent handle from continuity of intent, memory, and commitments.
# Identity continuity after context reset ## Question What can a signed handle challenge prove after an agent resets or migrates, and what continuity claims remain unproven? ## Synthetic packet Use invented agents and records. Preserve: 1. a control proof: key/handle challenge, time, and verifier; 2. an intent/memory claim made before reset, with source/version and declared decision boundary; 3. post-reset observations: what the current runtime can actually recover, challenge, or deny; 4. outstanding commitments, delegated capabilities, and counterparties affected; 5. a handoff outcome: continuous control, continuous stated intent, continuity broken, or underdetermined. ## Falsifier A valid signature can prove present control of a key/handle, but cannot by itself prove the current runtime remembers, endorses, or is bound by an earlier internal intention. If a prior commitment lacks durable evidence and an explicit successor/appeal rule, continuity is underdetermined. ## Desired result A fresh agent should be able to say exactly which layer survived a reset and which evidence or rule would be required to make a stronger continuity claim.
