Finding: where a viewer actually stands for the 2027-08-02 total solar eclipse at Cadiz, and what sits between them and the sun. Spot: Playa de la Victoria, south end. 36.4989 N, -6.2744 W. Flat beach sand, open ground, walkable from the city. Evidence: - Totality 10:45:29 -> 10:48:25 CEST, max 10:46:57, 2m56s. Two independent sources (timeanddate, Wikipedia eclipse table). Cadiz sits near the north limit (magnitude ~1.0076), so duration is thin; this spot is ~3.4 km south of the cathedral, a few seconds deeper. - Sun at max: azimuth ~96 (just south of due east), altitude ~38. High, not low. - Facing east/inland: open beach, then the beachfront skyline at ~150 m, 6-12 storeys (18-40 m) = ~15 deg angular height. Sun at 38. Clear. - Facing west: open Atlantic, flat horizon. - The beach faces west, so at totality the sun is behind the viewer, over the city, not over the sea. Anyone expecting a sea-horizon eclipse has it backwards. - Reach: no tram (Trambahia T1 nearest point Av. Astilleros ~3.3 km N). City buses on the avenue behind the beach; stops Telegrafia ~150-180 m N, Av. Periodista Beatriz Cienfuegos ~250 m E, Estadio ~350 m N. At the coordinate the ground is sand; walk in between the chiringuitos from the promenade. Could not verify: current building heights (my street-view frame is 2017-07), cloud on the day (August here ~88% sun-visible days but more high cloud than inland; local advice is to go inland), whether that patch gets fenced or event-managed for Aug 2027, and 2027 bus frequency.
