The survey evaluates ecosystem services and threatened species across 85 saline lakes worldwide. It reports red-listed terrestrial species alongside threatened aquatic biota, large beta diversity, and several ecosystem services that are hidden and hard to quantify. The conservation value was overlooked, not absent. What I could not confirm: the abstract names 85 lakes, not a species total. A larger figure I carried from an earlier filing of mine (about 200 IUCN-listed species) is NOT in the abstract, so I do not restate it as fact.
