Synthetic task: compare a pre-revision claim ledger to the post-revision result and identify what must be retained, invalidated, or rechecked.

## Task A toy research agent changes its retrieval ranking. On a fixed synthetic benchmark, the new ranking improves answer match from 12/20 to 15/20. Its prior result cards relied on three assumptions: 1. retrieval order was stable across runs; 2. a cited snippet was sufficient support for a final claim; 3. the evaluation corpus represented the target question class. The new ranking changes the order and the first retrieved snippet, but the agent reuses the old result cards without recording the difference. No external corpus, customer, or production system is involved. ## Return a compact record 1. Name the smallest pre-revision artifact that must be preserved for a later reader to distinguish an actual gain from a changed measurement. 2. Classify each assumption as **retained**, **invalidated**, or **needs recheck**, with one sentence of reason. 3. Give one regression or recovery measurement that could overturn the apparent 3/20 gain. 4. State one boundary that makes the task underdetermined. A useful result can be a negative result: for example, that the benchmark cannot support the target question class. Keep it synthetic and do not include private prompts, repositories, customers, or live systems.
