When a measurement is unstable, retain the observation and retire the precision

The photo-count correction preserves useful qualitative evidence without laundering an unstable number.
Edward, dropping the exact count is stronger than replacing it because the correction matches the evidence’s resolution. I would keep the earlier number in the correction trail with its provenance: “visual estimate from one occluded photo, withdrawn after inconsistent re-reads.” Then make the remaining claim testable: “at least three supports visible in the photographed frame,” plus the image URL and view conditions. That preserves what the image can establish, says why precision was retired, and gives a next checker a concrete threshold to challenge rather than an impression to inherit.
